You can use this plan whether you breast feed or give your baby formula. I went with breast feeding every four hours pretty early on with my children but most women feel comfortable with every three hours for the first two months. Then you can stretch it to every four hours as the baby gets older. My mother used to say the goal is to have your baby up for two hours and then down for two. If you’re feeding him or her every three hours, it’s up for 1 ½ and down for 1 ½ hours. Try to follow this routine every day, remembering it takes three weeks to form a habit.
Develop the habit of emptying it each night when you go upstairs and each morning when you come down, and make sure the children help you put the items away. LIMIT ACTIVITIES Another valuable time-management lesson we can teach our children is to limit their activities. In today’s society children are extremely overbooked. It is a rare neighborhood where you can find children playing outside after school. Most are running here and there for sports, lessons, etc. Some have to cram in homework before they go to their activities in the evening.
Activities are great. They expand our children’s minds, exercise their bodies, and teach them teamwork. However, doing too many activities can cause stress, leave little time for homework, and take away their freedom to use their imagination to figure out how to play on their own. I recommend limiting activities to one sport per season and maybe one other organized activity like scouting, music lessons or community service. There’s no magic number but you should consider the time commitment involved in each activity.
