Femtosecond time-resolved UV–vis absorption spectroscopy has been used to study the photoisomerization dynamics . A short-lived transient absorption is observed at 370–450 nm, which is assigned to the absorption related to the S2 (π, π*) excited state of trans-azobenzene.
