In this paper, we investigated the synthesis of microporous aluminosilicates which have preferential adsorption of CO2 over N2. It was found that microporous silica modified with alumina by a sol gel method exhibits adsorption of CO2 from its equimolar mixture with N2 in gas chromatography (GC). The extent of adsorption is found to increase with decreasing temperature. Results indicate that adsorption with aluminosilicates occurred at a lower temperature than alumina alone. Silica modified with equal percentage of alumina was found to have high specific surface area.
